Smile because it happened

Another birthday has come and gone. Yes, that's right, I'm sixteen now! It was a great day, mostly because I got to see most of my friends at school and climbing, I just didn't get to see A2 =(. The day started off with a yummy breakfast (croissants) and a few pressies. Then, school, which was rather enjoyable. I got two "Happy Birthday" songs at school, and one from my climbing buddies. Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes!

Onomatopoeia had another band practice, as we have our first gig next Thursday, opening for The Tangle! So excited, but nervous too... Band practice was fairly productive and we ate cake!
French as usual was entertaining, as was Classics. In Classics at the moment, we're reading Homer's The Odyssey, which means we read it aloud in class. Yesterday I volunteered to read the part of Nausicaa who actually does not shut up. One paragraph after another, every time I thought I was finished there was more to come!

I went into town after school to transfer my number onto my new cellphone. That part was easy - didn't take more than five minutes - however transferring my contacts took half an hour. It was pouring rain and so I ran over the road, caught a bus to the station and then got the train. And who was on the train but good old J! He got more soaked than me when we walked to climbing as he REFUSED to use my umbrella. A made me a cake!!! (thanks A love you!) and I managed to climb, eat cake and do some filming for my Short Film!

Very productive birthday? I think so!
I went home with the fam, had pizza for dinner and watched The Catherine Tate Show!!! Sooooo funny. If you've never seen it, check it out!

I had an AWESOME day, thanks to all my mates and family for making it a special one!

Gotta go to school now *sigh*

Monday-itis

We all know it, I know I suffer from it. It usually comes around Sunday evening when you're starting to think about school, and isn't normally gone until Monday night. Normally I cure my Monday-itis by coming home on a Monday night and watching one of my fave shows, Desperate Housewives. However, we had people for dinner tonight, so I had to tape it. But today it was cured by Les Mis rehearsal (WHOOP WHOOP!) and yummy pre-almost-birthday dinner with the fandamily and a nice slice of that delicious caramel cake...

Les Mis rehearsal was great fun, I'm an "inn guest" and more to come as far as I know. French, as always, very entertaining. Photocopier. Good fun. "That's not appropriate" cards. Great fun. Classics was also great - we watched this random as version of Homer's Odyssey - funniest Cyclops ever.

I'm really excited for tomorrow. So excited I'm going to have trouble sleeping. This time tomorrow, when I write my blog, I'll be SIXTEEN!!! It's gonna be a great day - scrummy breakfast with the family, school - friends, so there is a positive thing about going to school on my birthdat -, rock climbing with A & C4, then some yummy dessert.

I'm soooo tired now, so I'm gonna watch a Catherine Tate episode to calm myself down - yeah right - and get some sleep.

Good luck with the Monday-itis. Bring on Tuesday!

So long, farewell..

Weekend comes, weekend goes. It's the sad, unfortunate circle of life. Just like death. As facebook states clearly, friends are like potatoes. You eat em, they die. It's that simple. So, the weekend for me was good. Friday: Climbing with my buds. Was great fun. It was also Talk like Shakespeare day. But, alas I forgot, so I was unable to show off my fancy shakespearean skills. I'll just have to save that for another time. I'm thinking big: Talk like Shakespeare weekend! How fun would that be!? Rent Romeo & Juliet (CLASSIC!), and speak all funny and shakespearean for an entire weekend. What did they eat in those times? Haggus? Probably. We'll pass on that. Not that anyone I know would have a recipe for haggus. What's in it? Don't wanna know...
Anyway, Saturday: Hung with C and a bunch of kittens at the SPCA. SOOOO CUTE! I want a kitten sooo badly, but my parents are evil and won't let us get another animal. Very unreasonable. It's not like we have a zoo or anything. Just a cat, a dog, a bird, a tuatara, a platypus, seven ducks, a goat, a pig, a bunch of goldfish, a llama...Just joking. Cat and bird, and we're dog sitting a dog..that was stating the obvious. But, the kittens were cute so when I leave home I'm gunna get one. Maybe 2. Possibly 3. But I'm not gunna be a crazy cat lady. 3 is pushing it though...Also discovered that C hasn't seen Rocky Horror Picture Show! HORROR! That's been added to the lengthy movie night list..
Sunday: Choir practice. Fun, yummy cupcakes - Thanks Miss H! Then I got to drive home (i also drove there but anyway), and then I drove back to town to go la supermarche, then I came home, made a really tasty smelling cake, did the dishes and am currently procrastinating.

This week will be busy and hopefully fun. It's my b'day on Tuesday so I'm psyched for that. But I've got a test tomorrow at lunch, Les Mis practice after school (YIPEE!), English speech on Tuesday, Climbing on Tuesday...

I'm planning to have a movie night with some friends in a while, so I've been coming up with a list of classics to watch. Romeo & Juliet, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Some Like It Hot, Funny Face, The Breafast Club, Pretty In Pink, Fight Club, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Carrie, Grease... Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm currently in mourning. As many of my friends are. I'm suffering from seperation anxiety from the become a fan button on Facebook. I never thought it'd be taken away from us. I suppose I am a become-a-fan-a-holic, I just kept on becoming a fan. And then one day, *poof* and it's all over. Now you can only "like" something, which is just not as fulfilling. I dream of a day when we can become a fan again, when we are not forced to only "like" things. I believe "liking" a page does not truly express our feelings for said page. I mean, I like vanilla ice cream - actually that's a total lie I really despise vanilla ice cream - okay I like dairy milk chocolate, but I don't feel the same way about it as I do about caramello chocolate. I really don't think like tells the world - or my facebook friends - just how much I adore caramello chocolate.

All this talk for chocolate is making me huuungry. And, there's an amazing smelling cake downstairs which I can't eat =( who made said cake, might you ask? Twas I. Caramel Cake. Smells divine, let's hope it tastes the same. I'll let you know tomorrow when I eat some!

Happy Sunday Evening

Weekend is bliss.

Welcome to the weekend, where days are better, friends are more frequent and sleeping sessions are longer. My weekend began with a bit of a downer: I couldn't use the video camera after school to do my Media Studies film because of a bit of a mix up in the library. Which means that my filming schedule is slightly delayed. =(
But, then I went to rock climbing, where I was able to hang with my AWESOME mates. I wanna give a shout out to A1, A2, C4, G and JB, for giving me a good cheer up. I've been kind of down this week, but a good few ours with my mates really cheered me up. I'm so lucky to have such amazingly supportive friends.

This weekend brings: going to the SPCA adoption day with C to give some kittens some love =D. Planning for my party, homework, Choir rehearsal and babysitting. Busy busy bee. But, I absolutely love animals - anything fluffy and loveable, or even not so fluffy, but just most animals aside from the triple S: sharks, snakes & spiders (i'm sorry but I just can't handle them) - so the SPCA thing is gonna be great. I've been wanting another kitten for ages but the rents refuse. =( So at least if I can't get one, I can go cuddle some =).

Getting sleepy and have a big weekend ahead
HUGE SHOUT OUT TO A AND A - great climbing cheering up buddies.
HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL/ANY READERS - thanks for taking the time to read.
Till next time

Tough Stuff

So, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. I know, philosophical. But, as we're in year 12, we have an awful lot of pressure put on us - exams, yr 13 (eek!), University, LIFE! It's tough stuff. It's tough stuff but we're tougher! I wanna shout out to my amazingly talented Classics Buddy Clover =D. She's an extremely talented singer and she's gonna go far. I wanna give her a spesh mention because she really made me think about what I want to do in life. While Clover knows exactly what she wants to do (YAY FOR HER!), I have too many ideas. But, Clover's sense of direction really makes me realise how important it all is, and I'm definately devoting more time to these decisions. Also, Clover had such talent that she really makes me want to pursue singing and acting. =D

In Geo at the moment, we're studying world issues such as child poverty. One of the huge things that we take for granted - living in a very developed country - is water. I happen to know many people who take approx 20 minute showers. An average shower uses 2 gallons of water per minute which means that if you have a 20 minute shower you use: 151.42 litres of water. If you take an extra long shower, try shortening it. Sure hot water is a lovely thing, but it is a privilage. Get yourself a shower timer and save water!

Sorry if that last bit was a bit lectury, but I feel very strongly bout environmental stuff, and to hear about people wasting water when others have none, I get sad.

Another thing I wanted to talk about today is Discovery For Teens. I'm about to do a persuasive speech on why all teens should go on Discovery for English, so here's a bit. Discovery is an awesome week long program for teens. It's an amazing program, and when I went last year I got so much out of it, I'm planning on going back this year, I helped out with Bridging The Gap - Discovery for 8 - 12yr olds -, and when I'm older I'm going to staff on Discovery. Check out the website - you definately should not pass on a chance to go on Discovery!

Discovery for me was all about living life to the full and how to get the most out of your life. I'm now all about putting 100% into everything, being myself, being motivated, and treating mistakes and challenges the right way.

This is kind of a long one lol. I wanna shout out to everyone in my life. I love my friends and family and I don't know what I'd do without them.

I don't even know who actually reads this, but if there are people, whoever you are, thanks for reading my blog and I hope you like it. Have a nice day!

Stamps and Dustbins

Did you know, that other people go to the post office too? Amazing, isn't it? Post offices are those kind of places that I always thought that nobody went to. I was proved wrong. I showed up at the post office this morning to post some letters - yeah, I normally go there to read a good book =D - and there was a HUGE queue*. I was thinking 'woah, who knew...'. The long line made me a few minutes late to school, but my teacher hardly noticed. Then, classics. Classics classics classics. I've loved classics from day 1. It's really interesting, my teacher is great and really funny (BONUS!), not to mention the fact that I sit with a group of funny friends. Entertaining as always, C2 stole Z's pencil case. C2 just has this weird thing about taking someone's stuff at the beginning of the lesson (he does it in Geo too!), but he always gives it back at the end. His current fascination is with vivids (???). When he stole Z's pencil case, he ran away because she tried to get it back and Z chased him. So, J hid C2s school bag under the teachers desk. Z and C2 came back and it took 10 minutes for C2 to notice, most of which was spent laughing about C2's kleptomania.

Lunch, one of my many favourite parts of the school day. C never ceases to amaze and amuse me. Today, we were sitting in A DIFFERENT SPOT (thanks C's sis) and C noticed that the rubbish bin was missing. But, she didn't phrase it like that: "I'm sure there was a dustbin there yesterday." 2 things: 1 = Dustbins = WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT? Sounds like a bucket/bin that you put dust in...We put RUBBISH in a RUBBISH BIN. 2 = Iwasn't really paying attention to the geographic location of the rubbish bin yesterday, so either somebody reeeally wanted the rubbish bin to keep them company - lunchtimes can get lonely -, or rubbish bins can fly! Things sure have changed since I was a kid. We always thought it would be pigs (why pigs, might I ask? There are loads of non-flying* animals, yet they choose pigs?), but nooo, now apparently flying rubbish bins are in. Flying pigs are sooo ten years ago.

Rock climbing, one of my many favourite hobbies. Tuesday nights means going to climbing, which means doing 1 or 2 climbs, which in turn means talking and having fun with the gang. I managed to get some chocolate today - yes, I know, I'm not supposed to have sugar... - and we were talking about comfort foods. B asked me why women like chocolate, I said cos it's yum - well duh - and he said: It's because chocolate releases this chemical in your head that makes you like everything around you and be happy, same chemical released when women give birth. Which is why they always see their baby and are all "awww you're cute I love you". I replied: But, some women give birth and don't feel any love or warm fuzzies for the offspring. B: That's cos they were looking at the doctor. I found this hilarious, maybe because I'm easily amused, or maybe cos it was funny =D. J then said: they should mass produce this stuff - wow, chair I love you, ceiling is gorgeous etc. Me: That's called drugs J.

As was said yesterday, Today is gone, Today was fun, Tomorrow is another one. Tomorrow also means school pictures. Psyched, NOT. Better get some sleep so I'm able to function.

*Queue = doesn't look right at all! This list is getting loooong.

Stars are brighter at night

You know when you're a little kid, and you wish on everything that is wish-able? (stars, shooting stars, those funny floaty fairy things, birthday cakes, eyelashes, 11.11, genie bottles?) Well I was always one to wish, and a lot of the time, the things I wished for came true - maybe the trick was that I NEVER told people what I was wishing for. I'm starting to think that we are only allowed a certain number of wishes-that-come-true before our luck runs out. Maybe the wish police keep track of how many wishes have come true for each person. Sorry Mr Jones, but you've used up all your wishes, you're going to have to get things the old fashioned way. Like Monopoly: you have a stack of chance or community chest cards, and when you finally land on one, it's something great like a get-out-of-jail-free or an advance-to-GO. But, once they're all gone, you have to wait to pass Go and collect $200 until you've made your way around the board.

I never grew up from wishing on things. I always wish on the first, brightest star I see at night, floaty fairies and lately, 11.11s - if you don't you should start. But, unlike when I was a kid, my wishes aren't coming true as often. If I have used up all my advance-to-Gos, I'm kind of sad that I wasted them on wishing for silly things like toys, and that I can't use them to wish for things that would make my life amazing if I got them - yet without them, it's only average (and not the MLIA kind). If I do have some left, I wish they'd hurry up and come true. I know, I know, good things take time and patience is a virtue, but if they are going to come true, I'd rather they did sooner rather than later. Otherwise, when/if they do, I might not feel the same way I do now.

Today is gone, today was fun.

Despite the obvious dislike for certain aspects of school in my previous post, day 1 of term 2 was not that bad. Surprised? Me too. Sure I would have preferred sleeping in and hanging out with friends minus the school part, but I had a good first day! Joking around with C before school, multiple sessions of laughing throughout the day, entertaining classics class, as always with the table group, choir at lunch and of course, Les Miserables first rehearsal after school! Ultimately, it was really fun and I'm so psyched for the rest of term and the many rehearsals to come. Being in the chorus of Les Mis means I may very well get to play, yep, you guessed it: a prostitue! Boo ya! Just what I've always dreamed of. When I first told my mum, she said and I quote: You'll be a great prostitute. Now, I'm not quite sure what to think of that.

You may have noticed I've started using the first letter of peoples names. This is purely because while there are many people in my life who will feature in these stories, I'm pretty sure they would like their privacy. I did not intend to copy the notorious "gossip girl" series, I am just crap at coming up with code names. My friend C and I were trying to come up with a code name for this guy so that we could talk about him freely. We came up with Bobby. Yes, we are very original...The conversation then went on to list all the random names we could come up with: Midge, Mavis, Betty, Doreen, Gertrude... Anyway, the point is, I am awful at coming up with codenames, so rather than talking about my friends by calling them Midge and Gertrude, I will simply shorten their names.

As cruel as it may seem, I have been given homework on the first day back. Plus, I have some choresy-stuff to do to.
Until later

It was fun while it lasted

Time to bring the school bag out of the closet, grab the books from under the bed, and start getting up before 10am. Two weeks sure does fly by. And, just one of those little "Tallulah-isms": the word 'two' doesn't look right, then again, neither does 'isms'... I'm starting to realise just how busy Year 12 will be. Homework and assessments galore, band practices, guitar lessons, singing lessons, choir, Les Miserables, rock climbing, and the remainder of a social life. To make life funner - yes mum I realise that 'funner' is not a word, but I rather like making up my own words, and I prefer it to 'more fun' - I have two/three/unsure assessments this week. Yipee. Can't you just tell how enthusiastic I am to be going back to school? Holidays have so much more going for them. School: teachers who tell you what to do, heavy bags of books, crowded corridors, tests, homework. Fun, huh? Holidays: sleeping in, staying up late, lack of sleep NOT MATTERING, spending more than 20 minutes with friends, watching old re-runs and too many movies, learning to drive (only kind of learning I enjoy!), parents that are at work therefore cannot tell me what to do, shopping, sleepovers, movies, gigs. I could go on forever. I vote that school start at 10 every morning, and that there is an utter lack of it on Fridays. Who seconds that vote? I guess it's time to get some sleep, as while I am only excited at the prospect of seeing my friends again and driving my *SCOOTER to school for the first time, it would be a plus if I didn't fall asleep in class on the first day back.

* SCOOTER does not look right either. Add that to the list of words that are just plain weird looking.
